Strips Steps To Crown Molding Installation On Full Overlay Cabinets1. Cut the Wood Filler Pieces. For starters, cut strips of the 5/4 inch wood from length and width as per the size of your kitchen overlay cabinets.2. Spray Paint The Fillers. When you’re done with rabbit cuts, spray paint the filler wood to make sure that it’s the same color as your kitchen cabinets.3. Fix The Filler Pieces. 4. Cut The Crown Molding. 5. Precisely position the wood nailing strips along the top of the cabinets. 6. Be sure to use an electric nail gun. 7. When purchasing the one-by-two lumber for the nailing strips, avoid furring strips as they have rough edges. 8. Wood glue is valuable in securing crown molding to nailing strips.

Tips For Installing Crown Molding on Cabinets
Provide a nailing surface for crown moulding by attaching solid wood mounting strips to the top edges of the cabinets. Cut strips of straight 3/4-in x 1-1/2-in wood to fit the front and sides of each cabinet. (Use one long strip for a row of cabinets the same depth.) Then apply wood glue to each strip, nail it in place, and let dry.
