Illinois EPA has helped to fund the implementation of green infrastructure for stormwater management through various funding programs, such as the Illinois Green Infrastructure Grant Program for Stormwater Management (IGIG) and Section 319(h) –Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Financial Assistance Program.
This permitting mechanism is designed to prevent stormwater runoff from washing harmful pollutants into local surface waters. Authorization Status for EPA's Stormwater Construction and Industrial Programs – Most states are authorized to implement the stormwater NPDES permitting program.
A stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) is a written document that lists the potential sources of stormwater pollution, describes practices that will be used to reduce pollutants, and helps assure compliance with the terms and conditions of the Construction General Permit (CGP).
